Inspired by the great response to my kick-butt deals {thanks for your feedback…I love it!} – and encouraged by how astonishingly well-behaved my children were in the store yesterday {thank you, little yogurt bubble thing-a-ma-bobs} – I decided to double dip and hit Kroger today.
Just so happens Kroger makes me very happy. Very happy indeed.
I used to think Kroger was over-priced and overrated {sort of like my initial closed-minded strong feelings about couponing, ahem}…until my super-savvy, can-of-bean-price-comparing mother started raving about it.
It became a running joke around home…those little “Manager’s Special” stickers were everywhere.
But I’ve got to hand it to her. She’s one smart cookie!
Now it’s my turn to rave. Take a look at my receipt {the outlandish length thanks to coupon use}:
Spent: $72.07
Saved: $107.16
Lord have mercy.
I think I’ve found my spiritual gift: taking photos of receipts.
See…? I’m delirious with joy.
I digress.
Before I forget to post it…because forgetting is my other spiritual gift {yes, I still have nursing brain}…check out this fantastic little diddy created by the Krazy Coupon Lady to have you “stacking’, saving & high-fiving your cashier before you know it”!
Check these deals out!!
- A Kroger fav of mine is hitting the “buy 4 boxes of cereal for $10 and get 2 gallons of milk free”, as if the sale on cereal and the free milk wasn’t enough…go armed with plenty of cereal coupons…constantly available in the Sunday paper ads and online!
- A new trick I learned just last night – and you’ll want to nail this one {because it just doesn’t get any better than cheap AND easy!} – is to register your Kroger card online at their site and load the coupons directly onto your card. The wickedly delicious part of this simple task being that these coupons count as store coupons. This means you can use them in addition to manufacturers coupons, on sale items…which all add up to massive savings!
- There are some things I don’t usually buy…like Tide Stain Release, for instance. BUT, when it’s on sale…AND you have a $3 manufacturers coupon {from the P&G ads} AND a $3 store coupon {online through Kroger’s site}… you’re getting a $10 product for less than 3 bucks. I plan on diluting it slightly, and refilling my current stain treatment spray {a few times}…it’ll make several bottles of fantastic pre-wash treatment, and that stuff isn’t cheap {and I have young kids…so it’s not optional either}. So…be flexible and creative!
- Downy Softener…a guilty pleasure. This specific scent makes me want to strip naked and climb into the washing machine. Or something. It’s that good! So…when it’s on sale AND I have a P&G coupon for $1 off AND an online coupon of $2 off {loaded right onto my card}…and, holy mother of pearl…ANOTHER Kroger coupon mailed to me for $1 off my next household purchase…I’m practically getting it for a couple of bucks! From $6.77 down to $1.77. Now that’s not too shabby, is it?
Is it weird that I like to take photos of miscellaneous household items with my lovely new rebel?
Don’t answer that.
- Here’s what I walked away with completely FREE of charge – note that my 2 gallons of milk are already in the freezer…so just try to imagine the sweet sight of free dairy.
* A quick note about stocking up on vitamins and sunblock…be sure to check their expiration dates. If you won’t be able to use them before they expire, it’s not worth the investment {unless they’re free…then buy it and bless someone else with it!}.
- Look for “Manager’s Specials” and items that are reduced for quick sale. Use or freeze them soon as they are due to expire soon. If you have one…use a coupon on these babies too!
- When you have a buy-one-get-one free {BOGO} coupon, be sure to use it when the item goes on sale…you’ll get 2 items for less than the price of 1.
Cowabunga!
{I have no idea what that really means. I’ve just been itching to type it. here. and now. so there.}
Well, I’m off to eat dark chocolate M&Ms catch up on laundry {oooh, fabulous smelling towels!}, so I’ll leave you to mull over my insanely good deals.
Have fun saving your family money this week…it truly is addictive {and has a considerably lower caloric intake than above mentioned *free* bag of deliciousness. In fact…all that cutting and walking burns calories! I think I’m onto something. The great coupon-clipping-calorie-incinerating-life-changing-diet…thing…oh, just forget it}.
