If nothing else was gleaned from our ridiculously exhausting, overly priced, underly enjoyed {is ‘underly’ a word?} day at the Detroit zoo…it was what NOT to do next time.
And that the little local zoo – with it’s cheaper rates and shorter drive – is where we’re heading next time we get spontaneous and think…gosh, wouldn’t it be fun to hit the zoo tomorrow?
But despite the rain, the shortage of packed lunches {what was I thinking?}, the complete lack of sleep {I picked my hubby up at work that morning after he’d worked all night…and was running on 5 hours of sleep myself}, dead phone battery, grumpy son, and the obsene amount of money spent in gas, tickets and food…we had a {relatively} fun time.
Sort of.
Okay fine, It was a stretch just to keep a good attitude. Not quite the “happy WILD day at the zoo” you were anticipating, eh?
So just pretend that it was a gloriously fun, sunny day, and that the parental units were full of energy and spunk…and enjoy these sweet shots of our day:
The seals were a highlight. Can you tell?
My favorite two boys in all the world. I’m in love {sigh}.
{Bug was enamored with the giant, stuffed Giraffe. Cricket was enamored with Bug}
And for good measure, because my father has instilled an eagle eye for spelling errors, the funny sign of the day {was supposed to say “adopt”}:
And goodnight.
