I am so enjoying life right now.
Soaking in my little ones. Chillin’ with my man. Connecting with family and friends. Digging into some really interesting books {3 paragraphs at a time}. Purging my cupboards and the forgotten corners of my house and shipping boxes off to Goodwill. Occasionally trying new recipes – just because I want to, or sitting down to watch Tangled with the little ones for the 257th time.
I’m intentionally laying down “good” things, in favor of the “best” things…like spontaneous snow balls fights and whipping up entirely too many sugar cookies, rather than just writing about snowflakes and baking.
I’ve been sitting by the fire with my husband as we’ve dusted off our favorite devotional {Devotions for a Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas, in case you’re curious}.
I’ve been leaving the camera in the camera bag so I can fully engage in the delight of a face covered in frosting without a lens between us.
I go through seasons like this – of reevaluating why I do what I do – and am finding that they are vital to the process of stripping away the excess to uncover the truly important.
Rather than feeling the need to consistently blog about our life…I’ve just been living it a little more. And loving it. That is, after all, why I blog, right? To add something precious to our lives – in memoir form – rather than burden it with pressure to write.
I’m practicing the purposeful neglect of lesser things, as someone once said, and am loving the freedom that accompanies it.
There is so much joy and peace in letting ourselves off the hook, refocusing our priorities, and just allowing ourselves to live in the moment with our loved ones…without feeling the need to document it.
So I’m here, friends – I’m alive and so very well – and am thankful to know that if you’re here too…you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Life is fleeting. Soak it up!
