This is my first Valentine’s day as a mom who cares about Valentine’s day.
Did you get that?
I didn’t either.
What I was trying to say was this…I’ve never strung a heart…dyed anything pink…or sprinkled heart-shaped anything onto another something tinted a horrific shade of pepto-bismol…in the name of Valentine’s day…until now.
Apparently I’ve crossed over.
And I like it!
I think the addition of preschool into our lives may have caused this shift.
And Pinterest.
And Pinterest.
Did I mention Pinterest?
Watch out, folks, the next symptom is wreaths.
A St. Patrick’s Day wreath. An Easter wreath. A Spring wreath. A July 4th wreath. A Fall wreath. A marshmallow studded Winter wreath. A peppermint candy encrusted Christmas wreath.
Lord have mercy.
Yes friends, I am completely and utterly addicted to that online pinning site of interest.
It’s a scandalous affair I’m having, really.
If only I could get people to pay me to pin things and drink tea all day.
Note to self: chat to clients about this new initiative.
In other news, I would love to be able to tell you that my brilliant plan to celebrate my hubby’s 31st birthday by typing out 31 things I adore about him, cutting them into little slips and enclosing them in homemade fortune cookies for a dose of daily lovin’ over 31 days turned out stunningly {see above}…
but alas, it did not {see below}.
It would appear I followed the recipe for misfortune cookies.
In utter exasperation, after attempting to pry the crusty buggers off the parchment paper, I poured the rest of the batter into one massive cookie, tossed it into the often with a grunt, and when it too proceeded to crack when I folded it, I threw all the slips of paper into the bag, threw in some heart confetti and the beastie cookie and tied the stinker up.
Happy Birthday, love!
It is the thought that counts, right?
All was not lost. We had a fabulous birthday celebration for my hubby on Saturday despite the floppage of the {mis}fortune cookies, and my kids ingested entirely too much red dye today in honor of their mother’s decision to throw caution to the wind and be a cool mom for Hallmark holidays.
I’m feeling some green eggs and ham coming on! A peep wreath? Jelly bean cupcakes?
I’m exhausted already. Tea anyone?
Happy Valentine’s Day, ya’ll!
