Turns out we really love camping. Our children actually sleep well in a tent. Late, even, despite noisy 2 year old neighbors who rise at the butt-crack of dawn.
We also happen to work magic on a tripod grill over open flame. Who knew flour tortillas, salami, cheese, peppers, tomato and chutney would marry in such an epic way.
My husband makes me lots of tea. And coffee. Not that this is unique to camping.
He loves me well with piping hot beverages. Despite trying to kill me behind a jet ski this weekend. Every muscle clung tightly to that precious tube. I now feel each and every one of those muscles.
It would appear that our daughter loves water in all its glorious forms, like her mum. We spent hours wave jumping.
Our son loves sand, rocks & wood, and constructing empires with said mediums, much like his dad. My boys also happen to share an adoration for power tools and sport vehicles.
We spent 4 stunning days firmly planted in the sand of this gorgeous lake Michigan beach {below}.
Camping trip #2 of the summer, conquered. Plans for our 16 day Colorado excursion are in full tilt. We depart in just over 2 weeks. Gulp. And squeal.
And, just for kicks and giggles, you might be interested to know I almost peed on this little guy in the middle of the night…
…promptly apologized for nearly violating him, then begged him to pause so I could grab my camera.
He did.
I love vacation.
