You guys. You. GUYS!
My loo is LOVELY! Absolutely stinking gorgeous.
Here’s what it looked like before…
It was cold, boring and dated.
(Although my paint-stick mirror above the toilet is pretty fun!)
We ripped up the ugly, old linoleum, pulled out the hideous green countertop (complete with oak trim and green backsplash), and took down the large, oak-trimmed mirror.
We painted the walls a gorgeous mocha color (left over from my studio makeover – photos coming soon, I promise), put up a mirror a dear friend had given us over a year ago, and found a beautiful countertop on clearance for $20.
Because the countertop was cracked on the curve of the backsplash (yay clearance), we knew we’d need to get creative when it came to actually putting something in place to catch those rogue drops of water, shaving splatter and toothpaste.
Enter: the gorgeous mosaic tiles we’d found on clearance a million years ago – in the hopes that one day we’d redo our bathroom. The plan was to create a pretty frame around the mirror with the little tiles, but there was just enough tile mesh for us to turn it into a backsplash. And I just love how it turned out.
I think my favorite thing about this particular project was seeing how all these random pieces we already had…the mirror, the art, the tiles, the paint…all came together with the new (curtain, countertop and vinyl tiles) to create a stunning bathroom redo.
I found a cute blue mason jar soap pump on Amazon, and thanks to Prime, had it in my hands in 2 days. I may or may not be slightly addicted to this convenience.
The colors and textures just work so beautifully together.
That’s our unity candle in the blue glass hurricane, with some flowers I picked up when I worked at Pier 1 Imports (right out of high school). I love their water-blossom look…perfect for the “water closet”.
You may recognize the gorgeous medallion shower curtain from an earlier post. It’s the same one I purchased and hemmed to create curtains for our bedroom when we spruced things up in there (that makeover is right here). Now the two rooms mesh beautifully together.
You’ll also notice I pulled my fabulous toilet-paper-roll-mirror out of my studio and popped it up on the wall above the toilet. Because, well…really, where better to have a mirror made out of toilet paper rolls?
>> If you want a little refresher on how I made it, you’ll find that post right here <<
This of course leaves me with a little dilemma: what to put up in that open space in my studio?
