USING REMOVABLE TAPE (LIKE WASHI) STICK ONE ON A PUBLIC RESTROOM MIRROR, THE INSIDE DOOR OF A BATHROOM STALL, THE LOCKER OF THE NEW GIRL AT SCHOOL. SNEAK ONE IN THE DRIVE-THROUGH BANK TUBE. PASS IT ALONG WITH A FREE COFFEE TO THE FRAZZLED MOM BEHIND YOU AT MCDONALDS. OR SCRIBBLE A PERSONAL NOTE AND LEAVE IT BEHIND FOR YOUR SERVER AT A RESTAURANT.
GET CREATIVE, THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER.
• THEY ARE DESIGNED TO BE POSTCARD-SIZED (4.25 X 5.5) SO YOU CAN PRINT 4 TO A PAGE, BUT ARE HIGH RESOLUTION GRAPHICS AND CAN BE PRINTED LARGER.
• THE CARDS ARE SMALL ENOUGH TO SLIP INTO A PLASTIC BAGGIE TO KEEP IN YOUR PURSE FOR A STEALTH ATTACK. POP A ROLL OF WASHI TAPE IN THE BAG AND YOU’RE SET TO CHANGE THE WORLD, ONE SMILE AT A TIME.
• THERE ARE MULTIPLE DESIGNS TO CHOOSE FROM, PICK ONE OR SHARE THEM ALL
• SOME CARDS ARE PURELY FOR FUN, SMILE-INDUCING AND HOPE-STIRRING, WHILE OTHERS ARE INTENDED TO BE GIVEN WITH A SIMPLE GIFT…BE IT A COFFEE, A GIFT CARD, A DAISY UNDER A WINDSHIELD WIPER, OR A PAID MEAL (THESE PROVIDE GREAT OPPORTUNITIES TO MODEL ANONYMOUS GENEROSITY IN FRONT OF YOUR KIDS).
• HELP SPREAD THE WORD BY SHARING CARDS WITH FRIENDS, SHARING THE LINK ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AND ADDING THE #WEROARPROJECT HASHTAG TO ANY IMAGES YOU SHARE ON INSTAGRAM.

WHAT’S THE POINT? A SMILE. A SENSE OF BELONGING.
THE MAGIC OF BEING NOTICED.
UNSOLICITED KINDNESS | UNCOMPLICATED JOY | BRAVE HOPE
PURE GOODNESS.
UNITY.
WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM? I WAS STANDING IN A PUBLIC RESTROOM WHEN THE IDEA FOR THE ROAR PROJECT WAS SPARKED. HAVING SPENT THE MORNING AT MY FIRST YOUNG PROFESSIONALS NETWORKING EVENT, VERY OUT OF PLACE AND WAY BEYOND THE SAFETY OF MY COMFORT ZONE, I WAS SURPRISED BY HOW INSECURE I FELT.
STANDING AT THE HAND-DRYER, STARING AT THE WALL, I WAS AWARE OF ALL THE WOMEN WHO QUIETLY MARCHED IN AND OUT OF THE RESTROOM. AWKWARD SILENCE. BLANK STARES. STERILE AND COLD.
I STARED AT THAT WALL, A CAPTIVE AUDIENCE WITH NOTHING TO SEE, RUBBING WET HANDS TOGETHER IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE THEM DRY FASTER. I WAS STRUCK BY WHAT A WASTED SPACE THIS WAS. THIS SIMPLE BLANK WALL WAS A WASTED OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT HEARTS AND INSPIRE SMILES.
WHAT IF I COULD LEAVE A POST-IT NOTE TELLING ANOTHER WOMAN SHE’S BEAUTIFUL? THAT HER HANDS WORK WONDERS?
WHAT IF I MADE IT A HABIT OF LEAVING LITTLE NOTES ON THE INSIDE DOORS OF BATHROOM STALLS – WHERE WOMEN HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO SIT AND STARE – REMINDING THEM HOW PRECIOUS THEY WERE?
AS MY MIND RACED AND MY FOCUS SHIFTED OFF OF MYSELF, AND MY OWN INSECURITY, MY HEART LEAPT. THIS IS TOTALLY DOABLE, I THOUGHT. PRETTY LITTLE NOTES, STEALTHILY DISTRIBUTED TO WEARY MOMS AND LONELY TEENS AND INSECURE PROFESSIONALS…REMINDING THEM WHO THEY ARE. THAT THEY’RE LOVELY. AND POWERFUL. AND A PART OF SOMETHING LARGER AND MORE ALIVE THAN THEY MAY REALIZE… A MOVEMENT OF WOMEN SEEKING TO LIFT THE CHINS AND SPIRITS OF COMPLETE STRANGERS WHO MATTER MORE THAN THEY KNOW.
AND SO, ROAR I WILL.
